What’s Your Excuse?

Following Jesus requires discipline, loyalty and persistence. For example, when you become aware of sin that hurts others, what do you do? Read more…

Danger – Slippery Slope: The End

“If you do well, won’t you be accepted? But if you don’t do well, sin is lying outside your door ready to attack. It wants to control you, but you must master it” (Genesis 4:7 God’s Word). Read more…

Danger – Slippery Slope 2

I read that “The Pilgrim’s Progress” is the most-read book written in English. If you’ve read it you know why. One of the most powerful sections comes from “The Tenth Stage”.

Hope and Christian journey to the Celestial City as companions. After meeting Ignorance they enter into a conversation. Here is the second half. I posted the first part yesterday. Read more…

Never Get Tired

When I visited Ollantaytambo in Peru in 2008 the guide showed us the “tired stones”. These large slabs came from a quarry on a mountain, across a river and part way up the very long ramp to the city. For unknown reasons these stones never made their way to the top for use in the building project. Now they serve as a point of comedy.

We’re not ashamed to have this confidence” (Romans 5:3-5 God’s Word). Read more…

My Choice Child

“Then he [Jesus] said to them, “I can guarantee this truth: Unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3-4 God’s Word).

But Paul said, “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I no longer used childish ways” (1 Corinthians 13:11 God’s Word). Read more…

Grow Up

We assemble with a small number of others as a house Church. I call it “Circle”.

Last night the question came about why so many people who self-identify as Christians not only refuse to discuss difficult questions of faith or answer why something is done the way it is in a denomination or congregation when the Bible says to do it another way, and why they even shut down those who dare to ask the hard questions.
