The word of God came to me while I was asleep, and it awakened me.
I saw a mousetrap and a TV, and a voice called out to me, “Which one is food?”
I answered, “Neither of them is food.”
But the voice said, “On the TV you can watch shows about food, how to prepare it and cook it. But you cannot taste it, or eat it or smell it. This is how it is with the religion of the people who watch religion being performed in front of them. They watch praise teams sing, preachers preach and a voice sounding out with words calling it prayer. But my people do not worship me. They simply watch someone else performing religious acts and rites.”
I answered, “I receive your words. But what about the mousetrap?”
The voice spoke again and said, “The mousetrap has a small amount of food on it. You can see it and smell it. It will tempt you and draw you in because my people are starving for the word of God. But when they reach the food they do not eat it. The trap springs and they are destroyed because they follow what they see and smell and imagine. They are tempted by what is not enough, by what seems good in their own understanding and they do not look at the snare which surrounds the false feast. Beware of those who ensnare the foolish souls who do not walk closely with me.”
I answered, “What are we to do, Dear God?”
And the vision vanished from my sight, for God has already told us what we are to do.
“You mortals, the Lord has told you what is good.
This is what the Lord requires from you:
to do what is right,
to love mercy, and to live humbly with your God.
…
You will eat, but you won’t be full.
So you will always be hungry.
You will put things away, but you won’t save them.
Anything you save I will destroy” (Micah 6:8, 14 God’s Word©).

If you even need “food” from the Word, you can come to our church David. … Here is a good sample: http://ompc.org/sermons/the-old-testament-sings-amazing-grace-1

I very rarely ever tell people how to apply any message. For me the message refers to the absence of discernment among believers, ready to swallow anything that suits the religion of convenience and prosperity and works. It came to life only last Sunday when we attended a congregation and Jesus was absent, not even mentioned until the closing chorus. I refuse to believe there were no believers present, but why do they tolerate a “church” where Jesus is an inconvenience?
