Two previous blog posts have mentioned my brother and his heart attack. Such things when they come as such a surprise throw a person off balance.

Well, he went home two days ago. His bypass and heart-valve operation was as complete a success as possible. The unrelated issues have settled down. He is getting superb care from the home nurse. His voice continues to return after the long time with tubes down his throat while in hospital.

But today I was in Toronto again. Only this time my Mother, sister and I attended Canada Blooms, the big flower show, rather than visit in the hospital.

What a difference!

I felt like I was living out a Psalm of lament. You know, it starts out mad, sad or scared, and ends with praise to Creator for healing, protection or hope.

I’d rather be at the flower show discovering the new plants than my brother’s bedside wondering about his health.

Oh, by the way, I broke the promise I made to myself. I did buy some plants, flowering ferns.

I truly wish for all of you that life is like Canada Blooms and not like a hospital Intensive Care Unit.
