A persistent teaching cannot be simply accepted as a word from God. We are to test it.
For example, because anyone asks something of Creator and adds, “In Jesus’ Name”, does not fulfil the expectation of the Almighty in how we make our petition.
Part truths seduce people. Accept the untruth and the real Truth does not have to be found, followed or feared.
When Jesus said, “I will do anything you ask {the Father} in my name” (John 14:13 God’s Word ©) it was not meant to be a word, a piece of vocabulary, or reference to divine nomenclature.
Take notice of the second half of the verse, “so that the Father will be given glory because of the Son”! Whatever you ask God must get the glory.
Also, remember James wrote, “A person who has doubts shouldn’t expect to receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:7 God’s Word ©). Doubt is not hesitation, uncertainty or conflict between religious teaching and the Real Jesus. This doubt refers to questioning the ability of God to do what is promised.
To use the name of Jesus means you have opened yourself to the presence of God in such a way that you are transformed. You seek God’s glory, not personal praise. You accept that God works in the world. And it means you have died to self and conform to the will of God in your life.
“Have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Although he was in the form of God and equal with God, he did not take advantage of this equality. Instead, he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant, by becoming like other humans, by having a human appearance. He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, death on a cross. This is why God has given him an exceptional honor – the name honored above all other names – so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth, and in the world below will kneel and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:5-11 God’s Word ©).
Empty self to become a servant/slave to Jesus and humble yourself under Jesus the Boss to the point of death, to the glory of God.
That’s the beginning of praying in Jesus’ name.
