Well, I dared to write about my work schedule only days ago. Odd how things work out, isn’t it?
That 11 day stretch has turned into 22 days during which I will have worked 19 shifts.
Now my friends in Blogland will have noticed – I’m not visiting. Last night I looked and I had 162 email notices about blogging. I usually panic when it reaches 30! Sorry!
Despite the drawbacks, on one level this is great. At my age I can still work these hours and remain vertical. At another level I would like some social life back.
But God gives strength, Jesus sticks close, Paraclete encourages. In the new calendar year life will come back to an old man’s pace!
“The reason I can {still} find hope is that I keep this one thing in mind:
the Lord’s mercy.
We were not completely wiped out.
His compassion is never limited.
It is new every morning.
His faithfulness is great.
My soul can say, ‘The Lord is my lot {in life}.
That is why I find hope in him.’
The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to anyone who seeks help from him.
It is good to continue to hope and wait silently
for the Lord to save us” (Lamentations 3:21-26 God’s Word).

Wow, that music schedule sounds intense.
God took Paul out of circulation for three years, so working on God’s timetable will never make sense to humans.
Peace

I’m in the same boat. The Lord opened up a window of opportunity for me to study music. I’ve completed two semester’s worth of work in a month, and have one more to go. Meanwhile, other things have had to take a back seat.
Through it all, the Lord whispers sweet things to me like “chosen,” and reminded me that He is Emmanuel…God WITH us. It’s nice to relax and trust that He is in charge right now, even though from the outside it “looks like” I’ve stepped away from following Him. On the inside, He’s very, very close!
Wow! What a schedule. May the new year indeed bring back your “old man’s” pace!
