“Don’t think that you are smarter than you really are” (Romans 12:16c God’s Word).
Since I’m not smarter than God I thought I would just share some thoughts that God gave us about being smart:
“A person thinks everything he does is right, but the Lord weighs hearts. Doing what is right and fair is more acceptable to the Lord than offering a sacrifice” (Proverbs 21:2-3 God’s Word).
“How horrible it will be for those who think they are wise and consider themselves to be clever” (Isaiah 5:21 God’s Word).
“Because of the kindness that God has shown me, I ask you not to think of yourselves more highly than you should. Instead, your thoughts should lead you to use good judgment based on what God has given each of you as believers” (Romans 12:3 God’s Word).
“Don’t act out of selfish ambition or be conceited. Instead, humbly think of others as being better than yourselves” (Philippians 2:3 God’s Word).

Now there’s an idea, make all self-righteous smart alecks work in a daycare centre or teen drop-in centre for a month! No, better not punish the kids for adult arrogance.
Funny, our daughters rang the “wake up calls” while growing up, and now our Grandchildren do it. Maybe I need it…
Peace

One thing about living with teens is they sure let you know when you’ve said something stupid. 🙂 I experience “wake up calls” regularly…

Hm, sorry to be confusing. I thought it said people think they are so smart, in their own eyes, that they think they are better than others so they can treat others badly because others are beneath them – less smart. It was the “in our own opinion” that caught my eye.

Hi David,
Not sure what you are meaning in this post. I think this might mean that we should be giving God ALL the praise and glory for any GIFT of mental acuity He’s given us, and not take any credit for having a brain that works pretty good [?] This is what I think anyways.
