Where I work the earth turns to grime galore in the rain. The hiring company’s logo disappears from sight. The identifier our company uses requires constant cleaning to remain visible, at the cost of rag after rag, and a string of paper towels at the end of a shift to clean the magnetic signs before storage.
And this came to me:

Here is our patrol truck, with our ID sign removed to show the contrast between what the truck really is and what it looks like after a rain.
The world may heap filth upon you. Evil and power may bury you under lies and slander and gossip. Violent and sick people may abuse you and bully you or even rape you.
You may even begin to loose yourself under the muck that they fling at you, and forget who you really are.
But when I peel off my protective skin of love I see what you really are to Me. You are cleaner than any car wash can clean, brighter than any polish can polish and as pure as the heart of a newborn child.
No one can make Me forget you or that you are Mine.
“God does not see as humans see. Humans look at outward appearances, but the Lord looks into the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7 God’s Word).
“Can a woman forget her nursing child?
Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb?
Although mothers may forget,
I will not forget you” (Isaiah 49:15 God’s Word emphasis added).

Wonderful words! It’s amazing how a dirty truck inspired such beautiful thoughts!
