How wonderful!

Today we went to London to visit our good friends of more than a quarter of a century. Saturday their new bakery (Artisan Bakery) will open.

What a feast lays before anyone who enters:

  • Quiche, meat pies and tortieres;
  • pumpkin pies, lemon tarts, flans of various flavours, butter tarts;
  • homemade jams (mango or berry);
  • and on opening day 17 varieties of specialty breads, buns and rolls;
  • soup and chili;

and more.

Since Jesus describes heaven in terms of a wedding feast, do all these delightful treasures of nutrition constitute a preview of eternity?

“One of those eating with him heard this. So he said to Jesus, ‘The person who will be at the banquet in the kingdom of God is blessed.’ Jesus said to him, ‘A man gave a large banquet and invited many people. When it was time for the banquet, he sent his servant to tell those who were invited, “Come! Everything is ready now” ’ ” (Luke 14:15-17 God’s Word).

Jesus never wearies of waiting for people to answer the invitation.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the person who takes refuge in him” (Psalms 34:8 God’s Word).
