“I am too deeply troubled now to know how to express my feelings. Should I say, ‘Father, save me from this time {of suffering}’? No! I came for this time of suffering. Father, give glory to your name.”
A voice from heaven said, “I have given it glory, and I will give it glory again.”
The crowd standing there heard the voice and said that it had thundered. Others in the crowd said that an angel had talked to him” (John 12:27-29 God’s Word).

Jesus-Christ-Praying-Wallpapers-13Well, there we have it. Jesus spoke to the crowds. God answered. And everyone humbly fell before God who spoke.

Not quite. Some people won’t be convinced even if God speaks in an audible voice.

How could people miss the voice of God?

I can’t explain it, but I see it so many times I weep and grieve. People who claim to be followers of Jesus gossiping, slandering, backroom manoeuvering, back stabbing, breaking promises, committing adultery…

Perhaps part of it falls into the activity of religion that denigrates such miraculous and mystical divine action and justifies defiance of God’s law in the Bible.

But most of it falls on each person. Look for God – find God. Look for anything else (car, house, sex on the side, obedience to religion, self-righteousness, pay raise, trip of a lifetime, whatever) and miss the most important thing of all.

When God says no rival will be tolerated, that is exactly what God means. (“God who does not tolerate rivals” in Exodus 20:5, 34:14, Deuteronomy 4:24, 5:9, 6:15, Joshua 24:19, Nahum 1:2 God’s Word.)

God is not silent.

Open your ears and life.

And after God speaks act, for a life depends on it, yours, or someone else’s. Of course, if you don’t love, then you won’t be motivated. That makes you religious, to believe and not act. But that kind of orthodox, acceptable belief does not save, you or others.

“Faith by itself is dead if it doesn’t cause you to do any good things. Another person might say, “You have faith, but I do good things.” Show me your faith apart from the good things you do. I will show you my faith by the good things I do. You believe that there is one God. That’s fine! The demons also believe that, and they tremble with fear. You fool! Do you have to be shown that faith which does nothing is useless?” (James 2:17-20 God’s Word).
