Jesus called the twelve, “sent them out two by two, and gave them authority over evil spirits. He instructed them to take nothing along on the trip except a walking stick. They were not to take any food, a traveling bag, or money in their pockets. They could wear sandals but could not take along a change of clothes” (Mark 6:7-9 God’s Word).
If we take nothing with us, we cannot base our faith action on our resources. For example, if we have money saved for three months, our call into mission may be based upon a limited timetable. If we have gas in our car that will only last 500 kilometres, we won’t consider a call of God that is twice that distance.
Then there is the perpetual disclaimer, “I can’t do that”. (See Moses Exodus 4:1-17).
Is your spiritual life of mission focussed on you, your wants, your fears, your responsibilities, your race, your doctrine, your…?
So, who’s your Boss?
When God says, “Go” it may just be that Creator knows how things get done!
You came into the world with nothing. You’ll take nothing out. So go with God, all the way, as Fanny Crosby wrote:
All the way my Saviour leads me,
What have I to ask beside?
Can I doubt His tender mercy,
Who through life has been my Guide?

And how much more we could/would do if we walked in just that way! Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty. (Zechariah 4:6)
