Well, Margaret and I made it to the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It took us ten hours to get here from our home in Ontario, Canada. It is a trip we have planned for months, to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.

What music! But one thing struck me on Thursday night. Crestwood Baptist Church Choir, Crestwood, Kentucky, sang. The choir is larger than Sunday attendance in most Canadian congregations. They had memorized the songs they sang. No noses stuck in anthem folders here.
They all looked like they wanted to be there and loved Jesus with joy. Even teenagers were deeply into the singing, and more mature people had bodies that were enlivened by the music.
I could get discouraged by all this, but I prefer to be inspired. In some places in this world the spirit of Jesus is alive, well, and flourishing. I was delighted to see that choir. It reminds me of being in the Emmanuel Bible College Choir (more years ago than I will admit to right here) when we sang that way.
Maybe, Jesus, there are more people longing to be part of an earthly choir to practice for the heavenly one.
Lead me to them!
